In a spirited demonstration of grassroots engagement and political mobilization, a new political force in Abia North named “The ECK Movement for New Abia” announced its formal support today for Chief Dr. Emeka Charles Kalu as he positions himself for a potential run for the Senate in the 2027 general election.
Named after its principal leader, the E.C.K Movement draws its identity from Chief Dr. Emeka Charles Kalu’s initials and mirrors his vision of a renewed political and socio-economic agenda for the people of Abia North.
Today’s gathering, held in a well-attended grassroots event in Okputong, the organizers highlighted what they describe as Chief Dr. Emeka Charles Kalu’s commitment to grassroots engagement, civic inclusion, and structural progress for Abia North. According to organizers, the movement represents “a collective aspiration of a new generation of Abia North determined to elevate leadership with proven capacity and broad-based development ideas.” This message, they insisted, resonates strongly with youths, women’s groups, and community leaders who attended the launch.
The E.C.K Movement also unveiled a series of strategic priorities, including a youth mobilization plan, community service initiatives, and voter awareness programmes aimed at enhancing civic participation ahead of the 2027 elections. These efforts align with similar rallies and support visible online and through affiliated local chapters, where communities have reaffirmed their backing of Chief Dr. Kalu’s emerging political pathway.
While he has not yet formally declared his candidacy, supporters of the E.C.K Movement say their efforts today signal a desire for new leadership rooted in community service, economic empowerment, and inclusive governance for Abia North and beyond.
The ECK Movement frames today’s launch not merely as backing for an individual but as a broader call for youth inclusion, modernization of political engagement, and ethical representation in Abia North’s future governance.
