FINAL REJOINDER – 15/4/2026
Okon-Aku Reaffirms Its Stand Against Falsehoods, Blatant Lies, Fabrications, Criminal Defamation, Public Deception, and Negative Attacks on Our Traditional Institutions by Promise Uzoma Okoro (PUO)
Ordinarily, we would not have considered dignifying or responding to this freelancer—a fabricator and negative influencer—BUT FOR THE WORLD TO SEE HOW MUCH OF AN UNPROFESSIONAL PAID HATCHET WRITER, LACKING IN MERIT, CREDIBILITY, INTEGRITY, DIGNITY, UNWORTHY OF PUBLIC RECKON -ONE MR PROMISE UZOMA OKORO (PUO) IS:
The Traditional Cabinet/Council and Development Union of Okon-Aku Autonomous Community, Ohafia LGA, Abia State, have jointly taken note of the continuous, deliberate acts of defaming our leaders. The recent response issued by Promise Uzoma Okoro (PUO) to our earlier warning regarding his repeated misrepresentations of facts, and by extension, deliberate mockery of the tragic events that befell our community on January 2nd and 3rd, 2026, necessitates this rejoinder.
We wish to place the record clearly, straight, and unambiguously:
- Criminal Defamation, Cyberbullying, and Deliberate False Claims Regarding Traditional Leadership in Okon-Aku:
The said Promise Uzoma Okoro (PUO) asserts that Okon-Aku has no recognized Traditional Ruler. This deliberate false claim is entirely defamatory, derogatory, and misleading, constituting a direct affront to the dignity and collective existence of our community.
Nnaka IV of Okon-Aku, HRH Eze Engr. Ndukwe Iko, was duly installed in 2024 as the Traditional Ruler, officially recognized and presented with a Certificate and Staff of Office by the Abia State Government. He is a recognized member of the Ohafia LGA Traditional Rulers’ Council, Abia North Traditional Rulers’ Council and Abia State Traditional Rulers’ Council Meanwhile, Ezeogo Bernard Kama Igomini is the Ezeogo Okon-Aku and member of the Ohafia Council of Monarchs headed by Udumeze.
The Okon-Aku Ezeogo in Council, under Ezeogo Bernard Igomini Kama, has been performing legitimate functions, and no court of competent jurisdiction has issued any restraining order regarding his authority. For PUO to suggest otherwise is not only defamatory but also part of the conspiracy that led to the criminal attack on Okon-Aku, which resulted in tragic loss of life, massive injuries, and wanton destruction of property, leaving indigenes and residents mourning, destitute, and internally displaced.
The Okon-Aku Community declares: “enough is enough.” PUO’s public nuisance is totally unacceptable and legally actionable.
- Leadership and Community Integrity:
Okon-Aku’s Traditional and Development Union leaderships remain intact and are peacefully presiding over the daily affairs of our community. Mr. Promise Uzoma Okoro, a non-indigene of Okon-Aku, not from Ohafia LGA, and seemingly unaware of the precise location of our community, continues to fabricate, defame, and attempt to destroy Okon-Aku. He falsely claims to be both the authoritative spokesperson of the Abia State Government and an informant/mouthpiece of security agencies, while arrogantly positioning himself as more knowledgeable about the community than its indigenes at home or in the diaspora, thereby deepening the wounds of our grieving community.
- Defamation and Malicious Intent:
By claiming that Okon-Aku has no rulers, PUO has deliberately defamed the Royal Authority and traditional stool of our community. His narrative serves the interests of those responsible for the crisis and seeks to manipulate public perception rather than genuinely pursue justice.
- Lack of Investigation:
Despite PUO’s self-professed status as a professional journalist, he has not conducted any firsthand investigation in Okon-Aku to balance his reporting. His assertions rely entirely on hearsay from sources aligned with the perpetrators of the January 2nd–3rd, 2026 crisis. He has neither visited the community since the tragic events nor engaged in proper fact-finding, undermining his credibility and professional integrity.
- Exploitation of Position:
PUO is leveraging his position as head of the Abia Online Publishers Association (Bloggers) to distort narratives, peddle half-truths, and expend energies negatively influencing public opinion. This constitutes a gross abuse of journalistic influence for personal or pecuniary gains, rather than service to truth, justice, or public interest.
- Community Grief and Responsibility:
PUO is neither an indigene nor a resident of Okon-Aku or Ohafia LGA. He cannot comprehend or share in the grief of bereaved, butchered, and displaced families. His resort to media trials against community leadership, while investigations by security agencies and the Administrative Panel of Inquiry of Abia State Government are ongoing, only distorts facts, misleads the public, and shields the true perpetrators.
The truth must surface, exposing jobbers of iniquity to perpetual shame.
We reaffirm that Okon-Aku remains committed to justice, peace, and healing. We will continue to work closely with the Abia State Government, all security agencies, and the Administrative Panel of Inquiry to ensure the perpetrators of this tragedy are brought to justice.
We also reiterate that all defamatory claims against the Okon-Aku Traditional Stool and the community, including those by Promise Uzoma Okoro (PUO), will be met with appropriate legal actions. Truth, tradition, and Okon-Aku community dignity are non-negotiable.
The people of Okon-Aku stand united. Falsehoods, manipulations, fabrications, and opportunistic narratives will not deter our pursuit of justice and peace.
Signed:
Chief U. E. Udensi
(For Traditional Rulers Council & Nnaka IV Cabinet)
Comrade Okorie Kama
(O.D.U President)
