The Chief Dr Emeka C Kalu Football Competition sponsored by Chief Dr Emeka Charles Kalu Foundation will begin on Sunday 3rd December 2023.
This was unveiled during the meeting of the Central Organizing Committee for the football Competition.
Speaking during the meeting, the Chairman of the Central Organizing Committee Chief Kalu Emmanuel said the Football Competition will be played by the four Autonomous Communities in Bende Town on knockout basis, he informed that all the materials needed for the successful hosting of the football competition including the gold cup, balls, jerseys etc has been procured with a price money of 1million naira to be shared among the four participating teams.
He urged the team managers of the various Autonomous communities to ensure that their teams are well organized and abide by the rules of the game.
The Central Planning Committee agreed that the first match will be played on 3rd Dec. 2023, 2nd match on 10th Dec.2023, 3rd match on 17th Dec. 2023, while the finals will be on the 30th Dec. 2023.
All the matches will be played at Bende Local Government field by 4pm each day.
The draws for the football competition will be made on Sunday 25th November 2023 by 4pm.
The various representatives of the four Autonomous Communities that spoke during the meeting which include Mr Andrew Obi (Umuoche), Ifeanyi Ikechukwu (Isiala), Okorie Ogbonna (Umuisiobu), Chidiebere Ndukwe (Bende Ovu) thanked the Sponsor of the football competition Chief Dr Emeka C Kalu for his kind gestures and said the Football competition will help keep the town busy during the Yuletide, while assuring that their teams will play by the rules of the game.
