Encomiums and recognitions have continued to pour in for Chief Dr. Emeka Kalu, Chairman of E.C.K Foundation Worldwide, following his decision to step down from the Abia North Senatorial race in what many political stakeholders have described as a demonstration of rare political maturity and statesmanship.
In recognition of his sacrifice and commitment to the collective interest of his political party and Abia State, Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic (Abia Poly) on Tuesday honoured Chief Kalu with an award, describing him as a “Hero of Democracy.”
The institution said the award was in appreciation of his role in fostering unity within the party at a critical period and placing the party’s overall interest above personal ambition.

Presenting the award, the Polytechnic acknowledged Chief Kalu’s decision to withdraw from the senatorial contest as a patriotic move that helped strengthen cohesion among party members and contributed to political stability within the state.
Political observers and supporters have continued to commend the philanthropist and business leader for what they describe as exemplary political sportsmanship, noting that his action reflected a deep commitment to democratic values, party loyalty, and the advancement of Abia State.
Responding to the honour, Chief Kalu expressed gratitude to the management and students of Abia State Polytechnic for the recognition, reiterating his commitment to supporting initiatives that promote peace, unity, good governance, and sustainable development in Abia State and beyond.
The latest recognition adds to the growing list of accolades being bestowed on the E.C.K Foundation Worldwide Chairman, whose contributions to philanthropy, community development, and political inclusiveness have continued to attract widespread commendation across the state.
