Sylvester Ezeokenwa, a factional Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has expressed optimism that the party’s internal crisis will not impact Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo’s re-election bid.
During an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Ezeokenwa cited previous instances where the party faced similar challenges without affecting its electoral success.
He mentioned that crises occurred during the elections of former governors Willie Obiano and Peter Obi, yet the party emerged victorious. Ezeokenwa believes that the current crisis, orchestrated by individuals who resurface every four years, will not deter the people of Anambra State from supporting APGA.
Ezeokenwa assumed the APGA chairmanship in May 2023 after an elective convention in Awka, Anambra State. However, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recognized Edozie Njoku as the national chair in July, citing a court order. Njoku claims that a convention in Owerri, Imo State, elected him as APGA’s national chairman, fueling the party’s internal conflict.”
