Imo Police Crack Down on Kidnapping Syndicate, Rescue Abducted Victim

The Imo Police Command has successfully apprehended six suspects involved in kidnapping and armed robbery, leading to the rescue of an abducted victim. According to a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye, the operation resulted in the recovery of firearms, ammunition, and criminal charms.

In a recent achievement, the command rescued a 26-year-old woman from Obinze, Owerri West LGA on August 18, 2024. Following intelligence gathering and directives from the Commissioner of Police, operatives targeted a forest hideout in Avu, where the suspects were located. The team successfully rescued the victim unharmed and arrested five individuals, who were found in possession of a pump-action gun, cartridges, daggers, a cutlass, and criminal charms.

Interrogation revealed that the suspects were members of a notorious kidnapping syndicate responsible for terrorizing residents in Obinze, Avu, and surrounding areas. The arrested suspects include Umaru Usman, Tukur Yau, Musbau Sabo, Abdul Ibrahim, and Jubrin Idris, all from various states in Nigeria. The Imo Police Command’s efforts have led to the disruption of the kidnapping syndicate and the rescue of an abducted victim, ensuring the safety and security of residents in the area.
