Chairman of the E.C.K. Foundation Worldwide, Chief Dr. Emeka Kalu, has strongly condemned what he described as unwarranted and politically motivated attacks against Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, accusing the politicians behind the criticisms of having no genuine interest in the welfare of the people.
Speaking against the backdrop of rising political tensions in the state, Chief Kalu observed that the recent verbal assaults on Governor Otti are not driven by concern for governance or public good, but by deep-seated fear and desperation among politicians whose relevance, he said, is being steadily eroded by the governor’s growing popularity and performance-driven leadership.
According to him, these political actors are unsettled by the visible transformation taking place in Abia State under the current administration, noting that Governor Otti’s reform agenda and people-centered policies have exposed years of failed leadership and empty promises.
“The attacks on Governor Alex Otti are not about policies or governance. They are the reaction of politicians who are alarmed by his steady rise and the undeniable impact of his leadership on the lives of ordinary people,” Chief Kalu stated.
He lamented that such politicians are more concerned about remaining politically relevant in perpetuity, even when they have exhausted ideas and lost touch with the aspirations of the masses
“They do not care about the people. Their only interest is how to cling to power and influence, regardless of whether they have anything meaningful left to offer,” he added.
Chief Kalu expressed confidence that the political landscape will witness a major shift in 2027, predicting that the electorate will reject propaganda, bitterness and recycled narratives in favour of credible leadership and measurable performance.
He maintained that Governor Alex Otti has already distinguished himself through policies and reforms that have improved livelihoods, restored public confidence in governance, and set Abia State on a path of sustainable development.
“The people have seen performance. They have felt the impact of good governance, and they know the difference. In 2027, performance will defeat propaganda,” he declared.
The E.C.K. Foundation chairman further emphasized that Nigerians, particularly Abians, are becoming more politically conscious and less susceptible to manipulation driven by political expediency.
He called on well-meaning citizens and stakeholders to remain focused on consolidating the gains of responsible governance, while urging politicians to embrace constructive engagement rather than destructive criticism.
Chief Kalu concluded by reaffirming his support for leadership that prioritizes the people over personal ambition, stressing that history will ultimately favour those who serve with sincerity and vision.
