Tuesday, December 26, 2023, was a historic day for the man who has dedicated his life to improving the lives of his people in numerous ways, including sponsorship, scholarships, charitable giving, and people’s empowerment regardless of their ethnicity, religion, or belief.
On December 22, 2023, Chief Dpr Emeka Charles Kalu, a proud native of Bende in the Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, gave over 80 widows and impoverished members of his community high-quality palliative care with a pledge to make it an annual event that would be expanded beyond Bende Local Government Area to other areas of Abia North Senatorial Zone and Abia as a whole.
During the Chieftency installation event, Chief Kalu—the president of the ECK Foundation and convener of the Global Initiative for Good Governance, or GIGG—reiterated his resolve to live out his life’s greatest philosophy, which is to make everyone around him smile as long as the earth exists and he is able to breathe.
In a similar spirit, Chief Kalu was installed as Okpata Ozuora 1 Na Nibo (One whose wealth extends to everyone) by Ezeike IV of Nibo, who assured him that his charitable deeds towards the Nibo people have not gone unnoticed. As a result, he was given this title to inspire him to carry on with his selfless service to humanity.
Highlights of the occasion included his pledge to keep supporting and encouraging excellence among the community’s youths and his monetary commitment of N2,000,000 (two million naira) to the Nibo Community for community development.
As Chijioke, the High Life Music Moestro, treated the audience to a fantastic evening of groove that gave Chief Kalu’s sons who had returned from the States a strong sense of belonging, Senator Uche Ekwunife graced the event.
Masques, Ndi Ogbu Oja, cultural displays, and nonstop fun concluded the event long into the night.
Many compliments and encouraging comments have been posted on social media, which has helped to motivate the humanitarian to keep up his good work.
