The current governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, has received double the support of the private and public sectors for his positive developmental strides and unwavering focus on reshaping the state to become a state to be reckoned with in Nigeria. This is according to Chief Dr. Emeka Kalu, President and CEO of ECK Foundation, as well as politicians and other well-meaning Abian.
This directive was issued by Chief Kalu in a signed statement that he provided to reporters on Tuesday. He underlined the necessity of putting aside political differences and working together to advance Abia State. He also acknowledged the role of opposition in any well-balanced democracy, but cautioned against toxic one, saying that antagonistic and toxic opposition serves as a distraction for the governor when he should be concentrating on enacting his lofty and people-friendly policies and serving the interests of the people.
“Dr. Alex Chioma Otti has so far, in contrast to the previous past, democratic political will power to alter the narrative for Abia State. By means of his practical initiatives and ideas, he has elevated Abia from the bottom rungs of the Nigerian ladder to a position of prominence for among States. It has never been this fantastic for Abia. Politicians who genuinely care about the welfare of the people should thus set aside their differences and support the governor who is doing a good job. It is not in the interest of Ndi Abia to do anything else.
“We have seen and experienced his astute actions in the development of Abia’s infrastructure, which have attracted both domestic and global investors. I’m urging our compatriots living abroad to consider investing at home because of this. The state is now peaceful and tranquil, thanks to his measures on IGR, appropriate investment, and the elimination of shameless income generating techniques.
“Governor Alex Otti has lifted the state’s retirees’ spirits and removed the curse of worker salary payments. While other cities are growing stronger and receiving the necessary support in the areas of infrastructure and security, Abia is gradually reverting to its former nature”. He remarked, “I think we should push him to accomplish more by all means”.
According to the Global Initiative for Good Governance Convener, there have been periods in Abia State’s political history when there has been a lack of attention on providing democratic dividends to the populace until the arrival of this government with bright future.
The politician and businessman based in the United States believes, with good reason, that the functioning governor has to be supported during this important time in the state’s history. To prevent the government from becoming distracted, all critiques must be helpful rather than harmful.
