Following the successful launch of its “Feed The Almajiri” scheme in Kano State on September 9, 2024, the ECK Foundation has taken its feeding program to Abia State, providing nourishment to over 300 less privileged individuals. This initiative is part of the foundation’s efforts to alleviate the economic hardship faced by many Nigerians, especially the biting reality of hunger and starvation.
On September 11, 2024, the ECK Foundation team, backed by its President, Chief Dr. Emeka Charles Kalu (ECK), distributed food and bottled water to beneficiaries at various locations in Abia State, including Isi Gate, Express Road, and Bende Road. Although the response was initially slow at Isi Gate, the turnout was impressive at Express Road and Bende Road, with 301 people receiving food and water.
The “Feed The Almajiri” scheme, launched in partnership with the Kano State government, had previously fed over 1,000 Almajiri children, aiming to add nutritional value to their diet and enhance their focus on studies. The expansion of the feeding program to Abia State demonstrates the foundation’s commitment to addressing hunger and starvation across Nigeria.
Chief Dr. Kalu earlier announced that the foundation plans to replicate this gesture in Enugu, Anambra, Ebonyi, Imo States, and other selected states across Nigeria, complementing the government’s efforts to combat hunger and starvation. This initiative underscores the ECK Foundation’s dedication to supporting the less privileged and vulnerable populations.
The ECK Foundation’s feeding program is a testament to the power of philanthropy and community service. By providing essential nutrition to those in need, the foundation is helping to create a more equitable society and empowering individuals to reach their full potential. As the program continues to expand, it is expected to have a profound impact on the lives of many Nigerians.
